THE RULES!This is liberally taken from other people. In fact the only thing I'm about to do is paraphrase the original, which is here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=323633. So many thanks, my friends.
Sample Gamehttp://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=320914Here's an example of the way games are run where I'm from. I'm not saying that it's
better or that you should all do it that way; I'm just giving you an example of where I'm coming from.

If you have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to ask!

The Basic SetupThe GM starts a thread and posts a little story about a murder happening, which tips the town off that something is terribly amiss. People sign-up in the sign-up thread and then the game begins proper.
During the DAY, which usually lasts 48 hours, voting happens to determine who will be lynched. All players are allowed to post comments on the game thread unless explicitly overridden by a rule.
During the NIGHT, which usually lasts 24 hours, nobody is allowed to post on the thread.
Basic Logistics-Private messages, or what you guys call "BTSC" is always allowed between anyone at any time unless explicitly overruled. Privately discussing things is a very important part of the experience, as this leads to plotting and subterfuge! It's usually courtesy to CC all PMs to the GM too, so he or she can know what the players are scheming. It's not strictly necessary, but it's nice to let the GM know that you are doing something!
-In that vein, then, you can discuss the game with any player on the game thread, or in PM, or in IM, or in person, or anything. However, I ask that you not discuss the game with people not in the game and
dead people. The instant you are dead, please don't discuss this game with anybody except for other dead players.
-Don't copy PMs sent from the GM to other players. PMs can easily be faked anyway, so just don't do it.
Variations-
Ending the Game. The game ends whenever one side reaches its victory condition. For the Innocents, it's usually when every member of the wolf team is eliminated. Wolves however don't necessarily have to eliminate everyone else. They win when their total strength overpowers the total strength of the innocents (strength is a statistic.). Many things can modify strength--you might have a character with high strength, or have an item that grants bonus strength.
-
Character Backgrounds and Personal Goals. Each character gets a bit of a backstory for roleplaying/flavor purposes. Often related to this will be a personal goal for each character. Although they don't have anything to do with winning or losing the game, they're useful for bragging rights. You can think of them as "alternative roleplay victory conditions".
-
Special Abilities. They're usually activated or handled in secret, but nobody is stopping you from disclosing your abilities to anyone. Or lying about your abilities to anyone, for that matter.
Fall From HeavenThis is totally unnecessary to enjoy the game, but in case you're incredibly confused (what's a Balseraph?!) and want to know more about the particular universe that I've set this game in, the wiki is here:
http://fallfromheaven.wikia.com/wiki/Main_PageI hear the game is pretty fun, too, so if you ever want to play a neat mod of Civ, here's your chance.
